Singapore is a thriving cosmopolitan nation unlike any other place in SE Asia. Known as the “Garden City,” this city-state is organized, ridiculously clean, a little pricey when compared to it’s neighboring countries. But still, it is so fascinating! After a month in Thailand, I was ready to experience something different and Singapore did not disappoint!
1. Take a trip to SEA Aquarium!
This magical marine paradise was my favorite thing that I did in Singapore! It’s home to more than 100,000 marine animals and the world’s largest collection of manta rays. My inner mermaid was freaking out! It. Was. Heaven.
2. Wander around Gardens by the Bay
Huuuuge park (250 acres) and so so so gorgeous! Head over to the Bay South section to look at the massive eco-friendly Supertrees. Quite a site to see during the day and even better after the sun sets, as these vertical gardens perform nightly light and sound shows.
3. Stroll down Haji Lane
Narrowest street in Singapore and home to all kinds of cute shops!
4. Grab a coffee
While you’re exploring these charming boutiques, be sure to stop into #SelfieCoffee for your not so average cup of joe. I had the selfie frappe signature coffee and it was delish!
5. Check out the street art
It’s everywhere and it’s awesome! Singapore is a great city to explore on foot, so put on your comfiest pair of sneakers and get to walking. A great place to start is the streets of Kampong Glam & Haji Lane as they are covered in beautiful artwork.
6. Meet the Mighty Merlion
With the head of a lion and the body of a fish, this mythical creature is Singapore’s national icon. You can find the original statue at Merlion Park waterfront near One Fullerton.
Or this fierce one at Gardens of the Bay’s Flower Dome. Roar!
7. Eat in Chinatown
The nicest Chinatown I have ever been to and a great place to get your grub on, for CHEAP! The hawker centers (food courts) are the best way to enjoy Singapore’s diverse food culture. Fresh, fast and absolutely scrumptious. The longer the line, the better the food! (Laksa Noodle Soup pictured below)
8. Spend an Afternoon at the Botanical Gardens
Such a nice place to walk around and get completely lost in! I bet you’ll even run into one of these guys 😉
9. Escape into the National Orchid Garden
Within the Botanical Gardens this flower wonderland is the big attraction. Over 1,200 species of stunning orchids!
10. Visit the Masjid Sultan (Sultan Mosque)
Located in the Kampong Glam district, Masjid Sultan is considered one of the most important mosque in Singapore.
11. Explore Little India
Singapore’s most vibrant and colorful neighborhood!
12. Ride the Singapore Flyer
For the most jaw dropping views of the city, hitch a ride on Asia’s tallest ferris wheel. You’ll be glad you did!
13. Drink at Long Bar
Home of the original Singapore Sling, this trendy bar located in the luxury 5 star Raffles Hotel is the perfect place to come unwind after a full day of exploring.
love!
thanks Kas!
Awesome tips, we will be exploring all day tomorrow. Did you go to the marina bay sands?
Indeed! super sexy views for sure!
